Step-by-Step Printer Setup
Start Printing in Just a Few Minutes Whether you have an HP DeskJet, ENVY, OfficeJet Pro, Smart Tank, or LaserJet, follow this easy guide to get started.Step 1: Unbox Your Printer
- Remove the printer, cables, cartridges, and manuals from the box
- Place the printer on a clean, flat surface
- Take off all protective tapes, covers, and packaging materials
Step 2: Plug It In
- Connect the power cable to the printer and an outlet
- Press the power button to turn it on
Step 3: Load Paper
- Pull out the paper tray
- Adjust the paper guides
- Insert plain A4 paper
- Slide the guides to secure the paper
Step 4: Install Ink Cartridges
- Open the cartridge access door
- Wait for the cartridge holder to move into place
- Unwrap the new cartridges and remove the protective tape
- Insert each cartridge into its correct slot
- Close the door and let the printer prepare
Step 5: Align the Ink (If Prompted)
- Follow on-screen instructions if alignment is required
- The printer may print a test page to calibrate the ink
Step 6: Connect to Wi-Fi
- Use the printer’s display or buttons to find the Wi-Fi menu
- Select your Wi-Fi network
- Enter your password carefully
- Wait for confirmation that the printer is connected
Step 7: Install Software & Drivers
Option A: HP Smart App- Go to 123.hp.com
- Download the HP Smart app on your PC, phone, or tablet
- Follow the prompts to connect your printer
- Insert the setup CD into your computer
- Open the setup file and follow the instructions
- Choose USB or wireless connection
Step 8: Print a Test Page
- Open any document or photo
- Click ‘Print’ and select your HP printer
- Confirm that it prints correctly
Step 9: Mobile Printing (Optional)
- Install the HP Smart app on your smartphone
- Follow the setup steps
- You can now print and scan directly from your phone
